MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State is set to host their annual ASU Spring Kickoff Classic beginning Sunday morning at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Prattville, playing on the Senator Course.
The tournament will open with 36 holes on Sunday and conclude with 18 holes on both sides – men and women – on Monday. Alabama State will play host to Alabama A&M, Chicago State, DePaul, Evansville, Murray State, Tennessee State (women only), UAPB, and Western Illinois.
Capitol Hill, thirteen miles north of Montgomery in Prattville, features three 18-hole championship courses: the Judge, Senator and Legislator. These three special courses offer undulating greens, beautiful scenery and challenging play.
The award-winning Judge is difficult but rewarding, starting with the breathtaking first hole. This is the most well-known of the three courses and meanders alongside the Alabama River. Large greens feature an abundance of undulation and 14 holes adjoining the water. The Senator is a links style course that hosted the Yokohama LPGA Classic. This hilly, open layout features over 160 pot bunkers and mounds rising 20-to-40 feet high. This provides a secluded feeling setting. The par-72 Senator course plays 6,941 yards from the purple tees, while playing 5,831 yards from the white tees.
The more traditional Legislator is scenic as it plays in and out of pine trees along a bluff. The course provides spectacular views along the "Sky Bridge" which features six holes in a native cypress swamp.
