Starkville, Miss. | Alabama State concluded the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays with numerous top 10 finishes in Starkville, Mississippi over the weekend.

Alabama State had two student-athletes finish in the top ten in both the 100-meter and 200-meter runs with Ulani Toussaint finishing fifth with a time of 11.79 and Halima Barlow finishing tenth at 12.00 seconds. Tionna Brown finished fourth in the 200-meters with a 23.72-second time while Amari Newsom finished sixth with a time of 23.94 seconds. Vinnelle Grant finished ninth in the 400-meters running a 56.20 in the heat.

Michaela Lewis led four top 15 finishers in the 800-meter for Alabama State, finishing second with a time of 2:07.90. She was followed by fourth-place Arion Span at 2:11.71, fifth-place Shamia Jones at 2:12.60 and Jamila Thomas who finished 12th at 2:20.08.

The Lady Hornets also had a good showing in the throwing events with Kristen Thompson finishing eighth in the discus throw with a distance of 41.63m, while both Bridgette Williams and Kristen Thompson finished seventh and tenth in the hammer throw with distances of 46.08m and 41.40m respectively. Williams also finished ninth in the javelin event topping at 31.86m.

On the men's side, Matthew Clark finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.83, while Kevin Smith tied for third place in the 800-meter dash, finishing just behind Koi Williams of Kennesaw State (1:51.89). Ricky Thornton (1:53.84) and Duvaire Wauchope (1:54.00) finished seventh and eighth respectively.

Marcus Cade finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 7.37m, while David East finished 11th overall in the 100-meters, nearly earning a top ten finish with a time of 10.64 seconds, finishing behind Adell Coltrust of Jackson State and Jesse Henderson of Mississippi State (10.61).
