ALEXANDRIA, La. | Bishop Stringer shot an opening round three-under (69) to help push Alabama State to a ten stroke lead after the opening round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championships Monday.
Stringer holds a three stroke lead over teammate
Noel Sims at even-par (72) and a five stroke lead over teammate
Thacher Neal and Grayson Martin of UAPB at two-over par (74).
Afnan Chowdhury finds himself just out of the top 10 for Alabama State, coming in at 11th in the opening round at six-over (78).
Alabama State finished the opening day at five-over (293), while defending champion Prairie View A&M is in second at 15-over (303) and UAPB at 24-over (312). Alabama A&M is fourth at 31-over (319) and Texas Southern at 36-over (324).
The second round continues on Tuesday morning.
