BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State claimed three weekly Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) awards following the War Eagle Invitational last week.
On the men's side,
Abdi Hussein was named the SWAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after he ran in a fast 5000-meter race at the Hutsell-Rosen Track this weekend, finishing 11th overall but setting a new school record in the process with a time of 14:38.95. Meanwhile,
Marcus Cade was named the SWAC Male Field Athlete of the Week after he finished in the top-10 in a pair of field events as he finished 10th in the high jump with a clearance of 1.95 meters (6-04.75) and second in the long jump with a distance of 7.08 meters (23-02.75) at the War Eagle Invitational.
Meanwhile, on the women's side,
Tionna Brown after she led the Alabama State women's side over the weekend with the fastest time in the 100-meters at the War Eagle Invitational.
