BIRMINGHAM, Ala. I Four Alabama State softball players earned honors from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced by the office Monday morning.

Junior Madison Myers, an outfielder who transferred from Pensacola State Community College, was named Newcomer of the Year after finishing the regular season with a .391 average, while also doubling as a pitcher this season. She has an OPS of .628 for the Lady Hornets with 32 hits in 110 official at-bats to go along with 16 runs four RBI and team-high 19 stolen bases. Myers also appeared in 17 games in the circle with five starts, working 44.2 innings where she finished with 20 strikeouts on the season.

Jaeda Gardner and Skyler Sullivan were each selected to the First Team, while Alex Massie was selected Second Team on a vote from the league's head coaches and sports information personnel. Gardner led Alabama State in hitting and is among the best in the conference at .346 through 40 games. She has 107 official at-bats and 115 plate appearances on the season, with an OPS of .802 to go along with recording 37 hits, scoring 14 runs and driving in another 11 for the Lady Hornets.

Sullivan leads the team and the conference in wins this season as she has recorded a 14-9 record. The senior has appeared in 29 games with 24 starts, working 159.2 innings and recording 18 complete games and a 4.34 earned run average with 82 strikeouts on the season.

Meanwhile, Massie is second on the team in hitting this season at .296, having. 29 hits on 98 official at-bats. She scored eight runs and drove in 10 more for the Lady Hornets, while also collecting four doubles on the year.

Alabama State opens play in the SWAC Tournament as the second seed, playing Grambling State on Wednesday at 9 am in Gulfport, Mississippi.
