MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State and Florida A&M have met 40 times in school history but have not played since the 2008 season, however, they end that drought on Saturday night in Tallahassee (Fla.) when they meet in a pivotal Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest in Bragg Memorial Stadium.
Alabama State (2-1, 1-0 SWAC) looks to continue their momentum from their win over Bethune-Cookman last weekend, while Florida A&M (1-2, 0-1 SWAC) is looking for their first conference win.

GAME NOTES
- The last time the two teams met came in August 2008 in Bragg Memorial Stadium, ending in a 30-20 victory by the Rattlers.
- Tonight's meeting will be the first time the two teams have met as members of the SWAC, with the series dating back to 1909.
- Alabama State scored a season-high 38 points against Bethune-Cookman led by a pair of touchdown runs by Jacory Merritt (Montgomery, Ala.) and a pair of touchdown passes from Ryan Nettles (Evergreen, Ala.).
- Jeremiah Hixon (Monroeville, Ala.) leads Alabama State in receiving and did so against Bethune-Cookman after being targeted 10 times. The redshirt sophomore finished the day with seven receptions for 100 yards, just one catch and 16 yards off his career high.
- Nettles has targeted 13 different receivers through three games this season and has connected with 11 of those targets. He also ranks in the 80 nationally in seven different categories.
- Senior long snapper Luke Barnes (Tempe, Ariz.) was recently named as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy by the College Football Hall of Fame and the National Football Foundation (NFF).
- Cosmin Diaconu (Prattville, Ala.) ended a drought on Saturday that extended back to the Fall of 2019 when he connected on a 37-yard field goal. The team had not hit a field goal since that fall, missing all their attempts in the spring season.
- Irshaad Davis (Carol City, Fla.) leads the Hornets on the defensive side of the ball with 18 total tackles, while Keenan Isaac (Midfield, Ala.) has 13 and Christian Clark (Cleveland, Ohio) has 12 total tackles through three games.
- Jacquez Payton (Georgiana, Ala.) is second in the nation in passes defended at 2.3 per game and recorded four pass breakups against Bethune-Cookman.
- Robert McMinn (Hollywood, Fla.) ranks sixth in the nation in punt returns at 15.5 per return after a long return against Bethune-Cookman.
- Alabama State allowed just 35 yards passing against Miles, and then turned around three weeks later and allowed just 12 yards rushing against Bethune-Cookman.
