MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State is set to compete in the 2022 Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays hosted by Mississippi State on Friday and Saturday in Starkville (Miss.).

The Friday schedule begins with field events at 12 noon with the discus (women), followed by the high jump (men/women). The track events start at 3 pm with the 4x800-meter relay (women) followed by the 4x800-meter relay (men) at 3:20 pm. The meet continues into Saturday with the pole vault at 12 noon, with track events beginning at 11:55 am with the 4x100-meter relay and concludes with the 4x400-meter relay (men) at 4:45 pm.

Alabama State looks to improve on last week's finishes at the Black & Gold Invitational where they had several top 15 finishes including Matthew Clarke (Six Roads, Barbados) with a second-place finish in the 100-meters with a time of 10.44 seconds – the 26th fastest time in the nation after the opening weekend. Marcus Cade (Thomaston, Ga.) had three top-10 finishes in last week's meet including third in the high jump at 2.02 meters (6-07.50), sixth in the long jump at 7.28 meters (23-10.75), and fifth in the triple jump at 14.62 meters (47-11.75). He currently ranks 30th (long jump), 35th (high jump), and 42nd (triple jump) in the nation.

On the women's side, Kyana Evans (Detroit, Mich.) finished 13th in the 100-meters with a time of 11.70 seconds and 11th overall in the 200-meters with a time of 23.79 seconds. She is currently ranked 40th overall in the 200-meters and 46th in the 100-meters. Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay team on the women's side is currently ranked 33rd overall in the country.
