DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Teresa Diez Dorte (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) led Alabama State on the opening day of the 2022 Babs Steffens Invitational hosted by Stetson at the LPGA International Hills Course. She finished the opening day of 36 holes tied for 43rd overall with three other players.
Dorte shot an opening round 80 that had her in the top 35 before falling 12 spots following a second 85 to close the day at 21-over par 165 to lead the team. She was followed by a pair of teammates back-t0-back on the leaderboard in
Tia Kimbrough (Bellville, Ill.) and
Iman Adams (Cape Town, South Africa).
Katie Robinson (American Canyon, Calif.),
Hallie Bridgers (Baltimore, Md.) and
McKenzie LeDuff (Lake Charles, La.) rounded out the field for Alabama State.
Sanna Lundmark of Campbell leads the tournament at 1-over 145, leading by one shot over Sadie Pan of Cincinnati.
Alabama State shot an opening day 81-over and trails North Alabama and Towson in the standings. Campbell leads the tournament at 12-over par 588, leading Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by 17 shots at 29-over par 605.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Monday.
