FLOWOOD, Miss. | Alabama State finds itself in third place after the opening round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championships at the Refuge Golf Course on Monday afternoon. Alabama State shot an opening round 40-over 328 to sit one shot behind second place Prairie View A&M at 39-over 327, and 17 shots behind the leader Texas Southern at 23-over 311.
Tia Kimbrough (Bellville, Ill.) ended the opening round in fifth place after a 6-over 78 just two shots off the lead of Kennedi Lee of Texas Southern at 4-over 76. She is also just one shot back three different golfers including Dili Sitanonth (Texas Southern), Ashlie Hooks (Texas Southern), and Taylor Harvey (Prairie View A&M) at 5-over 77.
Hallie Bridgers (Baltimore, Md.) and
Teresa Diez Dorte (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) are tied for 11th overall after an opening round 11-over 83, while
Katie Robinson (American Canyon, Calif.) finished the opening round at 12-over 84 to tie for 13th overall.
Iman Adams (Cape Town, South Africa) finished the opening round at 15-over 87.
The tournament continues Tuesday morning with the second of three rounds beginning at 8 am.
