MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Kyler McIntosh (Columbus, Ind.) delivered again in the late innings for Alabama State with an RBI double to give Alabama State the lead that held on to with a four-run inning, grabbing a 9-5 victory over Bethune-Cookman in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action on Saturday night at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Alabama State (23-17, 14-4 SWAC) trailed most of the game until they tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh and continued that rally into the eighth with five unanswered runs.
Cristopher DeGuzman (Fajardo, PR) and
Jabronski Williams (Troy, Ala.) each picked up a pair of hits, while
Hunter May (Slidell, La.) delivered his fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth to tie the game at 4-all.
Osvaldo Mendez (Carolina, PR) got the start for the Hornets and went 1.1 innings allowing four runs (all earned on four hits) before being lifted for
Omar Melendez (Cayey, PR) in the second. The freshman went 5.1 innings allowing one run (earned) on four hits with five strikeouts before giving way to
Luis Rodriguez (Canovanas, PR).
Shadai Colon (Rio Grande, PR) picked up the win out of the bullpen, working 1.1 innings of relief after coming on in a tie game in the top of the eighth inning.

- T1 | Jeremy Garcia singled through the right side to drive in Brian Pena for the game's first run (1-0, Bethune-Cookman).
- T2 | Malik Stephens hit a two-run home run to left before Pena singled through the left side (4-0, Bethune-Cookman).
- B3 | Chris Lewis (Alabaster, Ala.) scored on a wild pitch (Bethune-Cookman, 4-1).
- B6 | May hit a three-run home run to left to tie the game (4-4).
- T7 | Franki Febles drew a bases loaded walk, driving in Brian Pena (5-4, Bethune-Cookman).
- B7 | Corey King (Lithonia, Ga.) lifted a ball to left center deep enough to score Lewis from third (5-5).
- B8 | McIntosh delivered a double down the left line to score Trenton Jamison (Atlanta. Ga.) who walked and stole second, followed by a Williams single through the right side all with two outs. Williams came around to score when DeGuzman drew a bases loaded walk, followed by Ian Matos (Toa Alta, PR) scoring on a wild pitch. (9-5, Alabama State).
