BIRMINGHAM, Fla. | Alabama State hits the track on Thursday in Birmingham at the Green and Gold Invite and Multi. Events start at 12:15 pm on Thursday, 10 am on Friday, and concludes on Saturday at 9 am.
Alabama State looks to improve on their finishes at the 2022 Florida Pepsi Relays last weekend where
Matthew Clarke (Six Roads, Barbados) led the way in the 100-meters, running in the fastest heat of the day, finishing eighth overall with a time of 10.55 seconds and finishing just 0.05 seconds behind three different runners. He finished behind Guinove Joanus (Clemson) at 10.50 seconds, as well as Rodney Heath, Jr. (Kentucky) and Cameron Rose (Clemson) at 10.51 seconds. Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay team on the men's side finished seventh overall with a time of 41.66 finishing behind Rutgers at 41.02 seconds.
On the women's side the 4x100-meter relay team finished 11th in a time of 46.56 seconds, finishing behind Hampton at 10th overall with a time of 46.19 and Vanderbilt at 46.18 seconds. Meanwhile,
Kyana Evans led the event off for Alabama State on Friday with a 20th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.71 seconds, finishing behind Central Florida's Selena Wright. She was the 17th overall collegiate runner to cross the line.
Ulani Toussaint (Miami, Fla.) finished 20th overall in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.24 seconds. She finished behind Ameenah Saalih of Howard (12.14) and was 19th overall collegiate to cross the line.
