Hornets finish strong with four top three finishes on final day at UAB

Pair of relay teams finish in top two of meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Rebecca Bernardin (Turks and Caicos Island) and Daniel Bayeshea (Kingston, Jamaica) led Alabama State on the final day of the UAB Green & Gold Invitational and Multis, both with third-place finishes in their respective events. Bernardin finished third in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:18.00, while Bayeshea finished third in the discus with a throw of 48.10 meters.

The two led several top 15 finishes on the day for Alabama State.

Meanwhile, a pair of relay teams on the men's side finished in the top three including a gold medal performance from the 4x100-meter relay team in a time of 41.15 seconds, finishing just ahead of William Carey at the tape and ahead of Troy (41.16) in third. Meanwhile, the 4x400-meter relay finished second overall in a time of 3:22.72, finishing just behind Jackson State.

Result (Men)
  • Nicholas Moseley (Pittsbury, Calif.) finished ninth overall in the 100-meter dash, leading a contingent of three runners in the top 15, with a time of 10.87 seconds. He was joined in the race by Mason Foster (Pike Road, Ala.) with a time of 10.93 seconds in 11th overall, and DeMarkis Adams (Birmingham, Ala.) in 13th overall with a time of 10.99 seconds.
  • Foster led a pair of runners in the top 15 in 200-meter dash with an 11th place finish in a time of 22.39 seconds, while Tyson Riley (Augusta, Ga.) finished 13th overall with a time of 22.43 seconds.
  • Xavier Clarke (Miramar, Fla.) finished seventh overall in the high jump with a height of 1.88 meters, while also finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 13.27 meters.
  • Marcus Cade (Thomaston, Ga.) finished seventh overall in the triple jump at 13.97 meters.
Results (Women)
  • Autaliah Williams Gould finished 13th overall in the 100-meters with a time of 12.41 seconds, while Dasia Newell (Clinton, Md.) finished 16th overall in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.37 seconds.
  • Cydney Thomas finished 15th in the discus with a throw of 32.00 meters.
