Hornets and Lady Hornets Compete In The South Carolina Invitational

 COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Alabama State Men's and Women's Track & Field Team completed day one of the South Carolina Invitational with three Hornets advancing to the finals and three Hornets getting three top-six overall finishes.

Men's Track & Field
  • Daniel Bayeshea placed fifth in the shot put with a final mark of 13.77m
  • Vaughn DeVaughn qualified for the semifinals in the 60-meter-hurdles in a time of 8.41. He also finished ninth in the long jump with a final mark of 6.90m.
  • Kendrick Windfield placed sixth-overall in the 400-meter-dash in a time of 48.44.
  • Victor Smith placed 2nd overall in the semifinals and qualified for the finals in the 60-meter-dash in 6.69. He went on to come in fourth in the finals with a time of 6.71
  • Joshua Knox came across the line in 48.55 in his invitational heat of the 400-meter-dash finishing ninth.
Women's Track & Field
  • Morgan O'Neal placed fourth in the 400-meter-dash with a time of 57.51.
  • Kahiya Anderson finished 15th overall in the invitational heat of the 400-meter-dash with a time of 57.87.
  • Taranique Alexander and Shawnakay Peart just finished outside of qualifying in the 60-meter-dash at 8th and 9th place both crossing the line at 7.77
The Hornets return to action for day two of the invitational highlighted by the 200-meter, 800-meter and 4x400-meter relay.
