AUSTIN, Texas | On the final night of Alabama State track and field's 2023 outdoor season, 4x100m relay team consisting of

Kendrick Winfield took home fifth place making them All-Americans at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
The Hornets competed in the 4x100m Relay where they took home fifth place overall with a time of 38.79 helping put this program on a national stage. This is the first relay team in ASU history to complete on this level making them the third overall Hornets to advance to the finals. This relay team is also ranked 16th fastest time in collegiate history running a 39.52 at the NCAA Regional last week in Jacksonville, Fla.

Jamarion Stubbs finished ninth in their heat where they fell short of qualifying for the finals with a time of 3:08.75 on Wednesday.
An historic season comes to a close for the Alabama State University Men's Track and Field Program that saw the Hornets win their third SWAC outdoor championship under Head Coach
Ritchie Beene's guidance.
The Hornets and Lady Hornets broke 30 records during the SWAC Outdoor championship, which included three SWAC records, two school records, 23 Personal Records (PR), and two season-best times. They also had 34 medalists which included 13 gold, eight silver medals, and 13 bronze medals.
The Hornets also swept the the 2023 SWAC Men's and Wome's Indoor Track and Field titels while the men's team won the SWAC Outdoor titles. Coach Beene was honored as the SWAC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year.
Coach Ritchie Beene ran his total championships to 58 Championships as a coach at Alabama State, tallying his 46th title as Head Coach. Beene was also awarded his 46th SWAC Coach of Year Honor following the outdoor season. Beene is still the all-time winningest coach at Alabama State and the SWAC and ranks among one of the all-time winningest coaches in NCAA track and field history.
The Hornets return home from Austin, Texas on Sunday where the school will hold a Welcome Home Celebrations Reception at the Nest in the New ASU Stadium on Sunday at 12:45 p.m.
Men Results:
- Daniel Bayeshea threw a 52.59m winning first place in discus breaking the school record. Bayeshea also reached a new personal record of 15.07m in shot put finishing in eighth.
- Isiah Palmer finished third in pole vault while also breaking a school record at 4.35m
- Xavier Clark and Marcus Cade competed in the long jump coming in at fifth and sixth, respectively. Clarke PR with a jump of 7.49m while Cade reached a season best of 7.37m.
- Our 4x1 relay team consisting of Victor Smith, Matthew Clarke, Justus Trainer, and Jamarion Stubbs broke the SWAC record and took home first place clocked at 39.35. This record has not been broken since 1988.
- In 110m hurdles Vaughn DeVaughn III reached a new personal record of 14.20 while coming in fifth
- Amos Beadle ran a 4:04.23 in the 1500m race coming in fifth place.
- Jon Coulter competed in the 5000m race where he came in at seventh place with a time of 16:49.46.
- Kendrick Winfield captured first in the 400m with a time of 46.02. Daquan Tate came in third with a 46.73 and Joshua Knox finished in eighth at 48.04. All 3 reached a new personal record in this race.
- Victor Smith, Matthew Clarke, and Justus Trainer sweept the 100m race. Smith broke the SWAC record, PR, and finished in first with a 10.10 time. Clarke came in second clocking a 10.24 time and new PR. Trainer placed third at 10.28 while also reaching a new personal record.
- Marcus Cade placed fourth in triple jump reaching 14.90m.
- Khabeeba Mills placed third in the 800m at 1:52.97. Mills reached a new PR in the Prelims round Friday night with a time of 1:51.70.
- Vaughn DeVaughn III finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.17. While also placing fifth in the Decathlon with 5681 points.
- ASU dominated in the 200m race taking every place but second. Matthew Clarke ran a 20.43 breaking the SWAC record while coming in first. Victor Smith finished third with a 20.67, Justus Trainer finished fourth at 20.73, and Kendrick Winfield finished fifth with a 20.79. Resulting in all four Hornets reaching a new personal record.
- 4X400m relay team consisting of Kendrick Winfield, Jamarion Stubbs, Khabeeba Mills, and Daquan Tate helped seal the win for the Hornets by coming in first place with a time of 3:07.34.
