MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State looks to defend its 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at the Birmingham Crossplex when competition begins on Saturday, Feb. 17.

The two-day event will be live-streamed on Sunday, Feb. 18 beginning at noon (CT).

Alabama State will send several student-athletes into competition with a chance to make the medal stand and to score points for their respective teams. On the men's side,
Jamarion Stubbs has run the fastest time in the 60- and 200-meters in the conference this season. He has a time of 6.61 seconds in the 60-meters (15th-fastest in the NCAA) and has a time of 20.81 seconds in the 200-meters (26th-fastest in the nation).

Justus Trainer looks to challenge for the medal stand in both races after running the sixth-fastest time in the conference in the 60-meters (6.80) and second-fastest in the 200-meters (21.18).
Vaughn DeVaughn III looks to challenge for points and a spot on the medal stand in the 200-meters with the 12th-fastest time at 21.93 seconds.

DeVaughn also has the eighth-fastest time in the 400-meters at 48.90 seconds just behind teammate
Daquan Tate with the sixth-fastest time at 48.40. The Hornets own the two fastest times in the 800-meters with
Amos Beadle at 1:51.46 and
Khabeeba Mills at 1:51.57, while
Jon Coulter is third in the mile at 4:31.31 and Beadle ninth at 4:33.07.

DeVaughn is the fourth-fastest in the 60-meter hurdles this season at 8.03 seconds, followed by teammate
DeMarco Thompson II at 8.23 seconds. In field events,
Isaiah Palmer has recorded the second-highest jump this year in the pole vault at 4.00 meters (13-01.50), and
Nicholas Moseley the seventh-highest at 2.70 meters (8-10.25). Meanwhile,
Xavier Clarke (long jump) and
Seth Stockton (triple jump) look to challenge for a spot on the medal stand as will
Daniel Bayeshea in the weight throw.

Moseley has recorded the second-highest point total in the heptathlon this season with 4,028.

On the women's side, the Lady Hornets look to challenge for points in several events including the 60-meters where
Rasunek Tyler-Thompson has run the sixth-fastest time in the conference this season at 7.53 seconds. Meanwhile,
Jaqual Bush is the fourth-fastest in the 200-meters at 23.93 seconds and
Nauti'Ka Robinson is sixth-fastest at 24.60 seconds.

Quincy Penn looks to challenge for the top spot in the 400-meters where she has recorded the third-fastest time this season at 55.69, while
Shamia Jones has run the fastest time in the conference in the 800-meters at 2:09.66. She is joined in the top 10 in the 800-meters by
Taliah Wickett with the sixth-fastest time at 2:15.70.

Jones leads four runners looking to score points this weekend in the mile with the top time this season at 5:11.50, while
Rebecca Bernadin is fourth at 5:23.59.
Taisha Benjamin has the eighth-fastest time at 5:31.26 and Wickett the 12th at 5:41.72. Jones also has the fastest time in the 3000-meters, with Benjamin third and Bernadin fifth.

Tyler-Thompson looks to reach the medal stand in the 60-meter hurdles where she is third overall in the conference this season at 8.45 seconds, while
Yasmin Grace has recorded the second-best triple jump this season at 11.94 meters (39-02.25).
Shakayla Riggins looks to kick off the weekend as she has recorded the highest point total this year in the pentathlon.
