'Bama State Track and Field Has Strong Outing At The Black and Gold Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. | Alabama State University track and field had a strong outing at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational over the weekend. 
 
The Hornets and Lady Hornets had four meet champions, that included four NCAA top 10 times and seven season or personal bests during the two-day event. 
 
MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD NOTABLES
  • Jamarion Stubbs was the meet champion in 100m with an eighth-best NCAA time of 10.24.
  • Stubbs also won the 200m clocking the NCAA's fourth best time of-20.49
  • Vaughn DeVaughn was the meet champion in the 400m hurdles at 52.13, the NCAA's ninth-best time.
  • Seth Stockton claimed fifth in the triple jump with 14.59 meters and a personal record long jump of 6.82 meters.
  • Daniel Bayshea was seventh in the discus with a throw of 49.79 meters.
  • Daquan Tate ran a season-best 47.23 to finish sixth in 400m.
  • Amos Beadle ran a 1:53.99 to claim seventh in the 800m run.
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD NOTABLES
  • Nauti'ka Robinson posted a personal record of 24.1 in the 200m spring and a season-best 55.82 in the in the 400m run.
  • Taliah Wickett clocked a personal record time of 4:50.73 in the 1500-meter run and 55.74 in the 400m.
  • Juqual Bush finished seventh in the 200m, running a 23.57.
  • Quincy Penn claimed the meet championship in the 400m timing an NCAA fourth-best time of 53.13.
  • Penn finished fifth in the 200m dash with a personal record of 23.42.
  • Shamia Jones claimed sixth 6th in the 800m with a season-best 2:08.91
  • The Lady Hornets 4x100 relay team claimed fourth with a 45.04. Team members: Rasunek Tyler-Thompson, Shawnakay Peart, Robinson, and Jaqual Bush.
  • Taisha Benjamin brought home sixth place in the Steeplechase, clocking a 7:48.28.
  • Kirsten Isaac posted a personal record in the 100-meter 400-meter and long jump.
  • Kayla Love's 11.45 meters set a new personal record in triple jump.
  • Emani Perry posted a 1:03.63 to claim 10th in the 400 hurdles.
UP NEXT: Alabama State men's and women's track and field will compete in the Al Schmidt Invitational in Starkville, Miss., March 21-23.
