MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University women's bowling team continues its fall schedule this weekend when it travels to Houston, Texas, to compete in the 15th Annual Track Kat Klash, hosted by Sam Houston State University. The three-day event runs October 31–November 2 at Emerald Lanes located at 9307 Boone Rd, Houston, Texas, 77099.
The NCAA- and USBC-sanctioned tournament will feature a competitive field of up to 22 varsity programs, including several of the nation's top bowling teams. Among this year's entries are Wichita State, Sam Houston State, North Carolina A&T, Louisiana Tech, Southern, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Oklahoma Christian, and Alabama State, among others.
Head coach Andrew Chatmon and the Hornets will look to build momentum from a strong start to the 2025–26 season, competing against elite national and regional opponents in one of the largest women's collegiate events of the fall.
Tournament Format
The Track Kat Klash uses a scratch scoring system based on total pins for qualifying. Play begins Friday with five Baker sets (five games each), followed by five traditional team games on Saturday. The top teams will then advance to Sunday's bracket play, featuring best-of-seven Baker matchups to determine final standings and the tournament champion.
In total, each team will compete in 13 matches across the weekend. Bracket seeding will be determined by total pinfall from the first two days of competition.
Weekend Schedule
- Thursday, Oct. 30 – Official practice sessions at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 31 – Opening ceremony, introductions, and five Baker sets (9:55 a.m.–3:45 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 1 – Five traditional team games (9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.)
- Sunday, Nov. 2 – Bracket play (8:15 a.m.–2 p.m.), followed by awards ceremony
Awards and Coverage
Awards will be presented to the championship team and two runners-up, along with an All-Tournament Team recognizing the top five individual performers (minimum four games bowled).
