CHICAGO, Ill. | Alabama State University's Wesley Bairros claimed top medalist honors to pace the Hornets at the Windy City Classic Invitational, hosted by Chicago State University at Harborside International Golf Club.
Bairros captured medalist honors with a three-round total of 222 (+6), finishing one stroke ahead of the field. He carded rounds of 73 (+1), 71 (-1), and 78 (+6) on the 7,166-yard, par-72 Starboard Course, earning his first collegiate win of the 2025 fall campaign.
Behind Bairros' victory, the Hornets posted a team score of 946 (+82) to finish fifth overall among seven teams. Davenport University took the team championship at 917 (+53), followed by Eastern Illinois (921, +57), Western Illinois (928, +64), and Christian Brothers (937, +73).
In addition to Bairros, Alabama State received solid contributions from Telmo Sueiro, who tied for 14th at 234 (+18), and Robert Woods, who tied for 20th at 239 (+23). Narabodin Swaengdee and Alberto Banos each tied for 34th at 255 (+39).
Bairros' individual title marks the first win of the fall for the Hornets and continues Alabama State's tradition of producing top individual performers on the men's golf circuit.
Alabama State will return to action later when it competes the Turtle Point Invite hosted by North Alabama Oct. 13-14 in Florence, Ala.
