BATON ROUGE, La. | Alabama State University women's bowling closed Day One of the Southern Queens Classic in fifth place after splitting four matches Friday.
The Hornets (2-2) secured wins over Grambling State University and No. 21 University of Alabama at Birmingham, while falling to Alabama A&M University and No. 14 Sam Houston State University.
Alabama State totaled 4,458 pins across five Baker matches, averaging 178.3 pins per game to sit just 77 pins out of fourth place entering Saturday's traditional team games.
