MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University head women's bowling coach Andrew Chatmon announced the signing of Alicen Ichimura, who will join the Hornets and for the 2026–27 season.
Ichimura, a standout student-athlete from Hawaiʻi, brings an accomplished résumé both academically and competitively to the Alabama State bowling program. A member of the Class of 2026, she is a dedicated scholar with a 4.0 GPA and is currently enrolled in an accelerated Early College program, where she is on track to complete a Management Certificate and 50 percent of an associate degree by graduation.
On the lanes, Ichimura has established herself as one of the top junior bowlers in the state. She is an Oahu Junior Bowlers Tour champion and captured first place at the 2025 Oahu Interscholastic Association West Championships. She was also part of the 2025 Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association Girls Team Championship squad and previously won the 2023 Oahu Interscholastic Association Championship.
In addition to her success in competition, Ichimura has demonstrated leadership and organizational skills through extensive extracurricular involvement. She has served as a student event coordinator for senior class events, including prom and luau, managed planning timelines and budgets, and assisted with vendor coordination. Ichimura has also worked as a student assistant teacher in dance and ballet, supporting daily operations and performance preparation, and as a student branch officer with Hawaiʻi USA Federal Credit Union, where she handled financial transactions and worked alongside professional mentors.
Ichimura's combination of academic excellence, competitive bowling experience and leadership qualities adds depth to the Hornets' future roster as Alabama State continues to build toward sustained success in the SWAC.
She will officially join the program for the 2026–27 season.
