MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 18
th ranked Lady Hornets bowling team will host its third annual Hornet Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Brunswick Zone Bowling Lanes.
"We are extremely excited about hosting this tournament for a third year," Head Coach
Andrew Chatmon said. "There is no place like home and the fact that we bowl our best at home makes us look even more forward to this weekend."
The three day invitational will feature 10 teams UAB, Alabama A&M, Texas Southern, La Tech, Jackson State, Bethune-Cookman, Southern, Florida A&M and Tulane are the other participants for this year's tournament.
"We are really looking forward to this weekend I feel that we are really progressing and that everything we have been working on is coming together." Chatmon said. "I also feel that we will be a little more prepared this season and the girls have more pride within themselves.
The last time on the lanes the Lady Hornets finished 11
th overall at the Crusader Classic finishing with a record of 6-9. The team had a total pin fall of 14,480 with junior
Kaila Ryan leading the way with 1,447 as she finished fifth.
The tournament is set to start at 10:45 a.m. CT with 5x4 Baker games on Friday. The teams will then square off on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. CT with the five man traditional games.
In the five-person team game, starting members of the competing teams will successively and, in regular order, bowl one frame on one lane. Once completed, the team members shall move to the alternate lane of the competition pair. This pattern of play continues until all 10 frames of a game are complete. The same substitution rules as Baker will apply.
The tournament concludes Sunday with a start time of 8:30 a.m. CT. The tournament, consisting of best 4-of-7 Baker matches, will determine the champion. The 10 teams will be seeded based on the performance from Friday and Saturday. Upon conclusion of this event there will be a brief awards ceremony.
