SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Patricio Minondo and Quincy Stith finished tied for eighth at five-over par 218 as the Alabama State University men's golf team concluded the final round on Tuesday at the James S. Litz Memorial with a 906 to finish tied for the eighth at the Republic Golf Club.
 
"Quincy played steady and I see the potential in our squad," Alabama State head men's golf coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. "We have to grow more in the next three weeks to prepare for an important stretch of tournaments."
 
Minondo, who recorded 11 birdies during the tournament, was fourth after the first day and five strokes back of the leader, Schreiner's Joseph Wolcik, as he fired a final round 77. Stith, who was one-under on par 4s and had 37 for the three-round tournament, entered the final 18 holes tied for seventh and carded a 73 to give the Hornets two golfers inside the top 10.
 
Wolcik held off a late charge by Oklahoma City's Matthew Cheung (two-under) to claim individual medalist honors with a seven-under par 206.
 
Kirabo Reed, who was one-under in par 5s for the tournament, finished the final round with a 75 and tied for 38^th with a 230. Mbongeni Maphosa Jr., fired a final-round 83 to place tied for 65^th. Alex Roxas, who missed Monday's round, registered a 77 on Tuesday.
 
Incarnate Word edged Oklahoma City (869) for the top spot with a 15-over-par 867. Schreiner finished third with an 887, followed by Western Texas (889), Abilene Christian (890), Odessa (896), Our Lady of the Lake (898) and New Orleans (906). Oklahoma Wesleyan (908), Our Lady of the Lake B team (934), Texas Southern (937), St. Thomas (Texas) (953) and Prairie View A&M (982) rounded out the 14-team field.
 
Alabama State returns to the links March 5-7 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Prattville, Ala., in the ASU Spring Golf Kickoff.
