ALEXANDRIA, La.| Alabama State shot a second round 302, setting the stage for the final round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championship at the Oak Wing Golf Club.
The Hornets ended the day with a two-round total of 608, leaving them 13 shots back of defending champion Prairie View A&M who shot below 300 for the second day in a row – finishing with a two-round total of 595.
Texas Southern is currently third at 619, while UAPB is fourth at 621.
Thacher Neal is tied for fourth with teammate
Mbongeni Maphosa after two rounds of play, after a second round 75 to give him a two-day total of six over par (150). Meanwhile, Maphosa shot a second round 76 to fall two spots into a tie for fourth; while teammate
Ben Swaffield is tied ninth after back-to-back rounds of 77 to record a two-day total of 10-over par (154).
Thomas Caddell sits 13th headed into the final round Wednesday at 12-over 156, while
Afnan Chowdhury is 14th at 13-over par (157). Laurence Crea of Prairie View A&M leads the tournament with a two-day total of two-under (142), six shots clear of the field.
The final round will be held Wednesday at the Oak Wing Golf Club.
