PRATTVILLE, Ala. | Alma Garcia finished two shots off the pace in the opening tournament for Alabama State, finishing at 19-over (235) at the ASU Spring Classic at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course Monday afternoon.
Garcia shot a final 76, but it wasn't enough as Sophia Rohleder was able to hang on for the win following a final round 78. The Lady Hornets had three players finish inside the top 11 with
Kei Harris shooting a final round 79 to finish ninth at 30-over 246, while
Tia Kimbrough finished 10th overall with 33-over (249).
Jade Sanders finished the tournament 11th overall after a final round 80.
As a team, Alabama State finished third at 981 – 10 shots behind Evansville in second (971) and eventual champion Western Illinois (965).
Meanwhile, on the men's side,
Noel Sims finished tied for third overall at 14-over par (230), finishing just three shots behind Parker Govern of Western Illinois. The Hornets'
Bishop Stringer finished inside the top 10, finishing tied for seventh at 16-over (232).
Thomas Caddell finished 13th overall at 22-over par for the Hornets who finished third overall (938). They finished nine shots behind Western Illinois (929) and behind eventual champion Murray State (912).
