Three Lady Hornets Selected to SWAC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State's Jada Rhodes, Temperance Chatman, and Madison Beasley for SWAC Volleyball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances this past weekend in wins against Bethune-Cookman (3-1) and Florida A&M (3-1).

Jada Rhodes was named offensive player of the week after logging a total of 31 kills across two matches. The Tallahassee native posted eight kills in the win over Bethune-Cookman followed by a team-high 23 kills in a four-set win over Florida A&M this past Sunday (Nov. 6). Rhodes also recorded 17 digs against the Lady Rattlers. 

Temperance Chatman was tabbed defensive player of the week after registering a total of 48 digs in two matches this past weekend. Chatman scooped 21 digs in ASU's win over Bethune-Cookman and 27 digs in the win over Florida A&M. She is currently fourth in the SWAC in total digs with 383.

Madison Beasley was selected as setter of the week after tallying 23 assists in the win over Bethune-Cookman followed by a 29-assist performance at Florida A&M for a total of 52 for the weekend. Beasley has now handed out 20 or more assists in six straight matches for Alabama State.

The Lady Hornets have now won 11 straight matches and improved to 14-1 in league play this season.

The Alabama State women's volleyball team closes out the regular season on Friday (Nov. 11) against conference-foe Alabama A&M in Huntsville, Alabama at 6 p.m, CT.
