Ilas Tied for Third, Men’s Golf in Fourth after 18 Holes at SWAC Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala | The Alabama State men's golf team sits in fourth place out of a field of seven teams after 18 holes at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Fall Invitational at Oxmoor Valley Golf Course. Oxmoor Valley is a 6527-yard Par 72 course. Three Hornets landed in the top 10 after Monday's (Nov.14) opening round.

The Hornets shot an opening round of 295 as a team to finish at seven-over.

Miguel Ilas led the Hornets on day one after shooting an opening round of 71 (-1) to finish tied for third after 18 holes. Gonzalo Moreno also gave the Hornets a push, shooting a round of 72 (E) to sit in a tie for fifth place.

Kevin Rodriguez rounds out the three Hornets in the top 10 after finishing the day tied for 10th place. The freshman shot a two-over (74) opening round to help pace the Hornets.

Ignacio Puente and Ty Roberts both ended day one tied for 27th place after carding identical rounds of 78 (+6)

The final round is slated for tomorrow (Nov. 15) at Oxmoor Valley Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama.
