Gainesville, FL – The Alabama State Hornets continue their tear through the outdoor season, showcasing elite performances at the Florida Relays, where school records were rewritten, personal bests shattered, and finals tickets punched.
One of the standout performances came from Aliyah Williams, who made history in the 1500m, breaking the school record with a time of 4:34.54. The effort not only earned her a spot in the record books but also secured a 2nd place finish in a highly competitive field. Just steps behind her, Ann Badawi clocked a personal best of 4:35.02, claiming 5th, while Taliah Wickett rounded out the team's depth with a strong 9th place finish at 4:37.47.
In the field, Anthony Woods put together a clutch performance in the long jump, landing a season-best mark of 7.37m, which earned him 4th place and kept the Hornets in the hunt across all event groups.
The relay units were on fire once again.
The women's 4x400m relay team—Daylin Gibson, Taliah Wickett, Aliyah Williams, and Chloe Vines—ran a crisp 3:39.01, securing a season-best and punching their ticket to the finals. On the men's side, the elite squad of Jamarion Stubbs, Nickory Richards, Khabeeba Mills, and Chad Gaffney powered through to a 3:05.83.
Day 2 of the prestigious Florida Relays proved to be a historic outing for the Alabama State University Track & Field program, with multiple school records shattered, personal bests achieved, and several top-eight finishes against elite national competition.
Headlining the performance was Seth Stockton, who broke the school record in the triple jump, soaring to 15.34 meters and earning a 5th place finish. Fellow jumper Isaiah Riggins also posted a career-best mark of 15.20 meters, securing 7th place and adding depth to ASU's horizontal jump squad.
In the high jump, both Brayden Irhuegbae and Noel Asiedu cleared 2.09 meters, tying their personal bests. Irhuegbae finished 2nd, with Asiedu close behind in 3rd place, showcasing the Hornets' dominance in the vertical jumps.
On the track, Khabeeba Mills etched his name in the record books, running 1:50.89 in the 800 meters to break the school record and match his personal best. Mills then teamed up with Jamarion Stubbs, Nickory Richards, and Chad Gaffney to lead the men's 4x400m relay to a school-record time of 3:04.96, placing 4th overall in one of the most competitive events of the meet.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Daylin Gibson, Taliah Wickett, Aliyah Williams, and Chloe Vines also delivered a stellar performance, clocking a season-best time of 3:38.70 and securing a 3rd place finish.
