MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's soccer team recorded a 5-5 tie against cross-town foe Huntingdon College in a spring game held at Hornet Stadium.
Danielle Miller netted three goals and
Monique Sylvester added a pair of scores to account for ASU's offensive output. The game featured an 8-v-8 format and included three 20-minute halves.
“Our focus this spring has been to increase our fitness base and technical skill abilities along with improving our 1-v-1 tactics,” said ASU head coach
Jodie Smith. “Tonight was a chance to see how we have improved and I thought we demonstrated improvement in all areas. We also were able to identify the areas that we have to continue to work. Overall, I was pleased with our intensity and focus.”
The ASU team is currently working through spring drills in preparation for the 2010 season that begins with an exhibition game against AUM on Aug. 14. The Hornets open the regular season at home Aug. 22 against Wofford.
