Sanchez and Higashi Earn POTW Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State's Sheila Sanchez goalkeeper of the week and Elli Higashi co-offensive player of the week for their performances this past weekend against Grambling State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. This week's nod marks Sanchez's second POTW honors this season.

Sanchez earned goalkeeper of the week after posting a shutout performance in a 3-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Castellon, Spain native faced 12 shots with three saves and zero goals allowed. On Friday, she faced 18 shots with seven saves and just one goal allowed in a 1-1 draw against Grambling State.

Sanchez is ranked 11th in the NCAA in saves per game with an average of 6.55 per match.

Higashi earned co-offensive player of the week after netting two goals and two shots in a 3-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
