MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University and head coach Jodie Smith released the 2023 women's soccer schedule on Tuesday morning, featuring eight home games at the ASU Soccer Complex.
 
Alabama State (6-8-4. 4-2-3 SWAC last season) opens play on August 12 in Pensacola (Fla.) in an exhibition match against Mobile prior to the start of the regular season against Jacksonville on the road on August 18.
 
The Lady Hornets stay on the road for the third consecutive match facing crosstown foe Faulkner on August 20, before opening the home slate against UAB on August 24. Following the match against the Blazers, Alabama State hits the road for three consecutive road matches that include Mercer (August 27), Talladega (September 1), and Troy (September 3).
 
They will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule against Georgia State (September 10) and Jacksonville State (September 14) at the ASU Soccer Complex.
 
Alabama State will open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on the road with a pair of matches against Grambling State (September 29) and UAPB (October 1), before returning home to face Jackson State (October 6) and Southern (October 8). The Lady Hornets hit the road again October 13 against Alcorn State and then at Mississippi Valley State (October 15).
 
They close out the home portion of the schedule against Texas Southern (October 20) and Prairie View A&M (October 22), before closing out the regular season on the road against Alabama A&M (October 27).
 
The Lady Hornets are in search of their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since the Spring of 2021.
