Birmingham, Alabama – The Alabama State Hornets delivered an impressive performance at the Green and Gold Invite, with several athletes setting personal bests and school records.
On the women's side, Jaiya Burchell set a personal best in the weight throw with a mark of 14.83m. Kennedi McCord set a school record in the pole vault, clearing 3.43m. Emani Perry achieved personal bests in two events—first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.64 seconds, and then in the high jump with a leap of 1.48 meters.
Freshman Angelique Debgoe continued her strong season, clocking 5:14.84 in the mile. Yasmin Grace hit a personal best in the 400m with a time of 58.44 seconds. Aliyah Williams impressed with a 5:03.87 in the mile and set a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:12.16. Kaitlin Hunter also finished the 60m hurdles in 9.72 seconds.
Taliah Wickett was the meet champion in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:12.83.
On the men's side, Jamarion Stubbs dominated the 60m, winning the event with a time of 6.67 seconds. Khabeeba Mills was the meet champion in the 800m with a time of 1:53.83. Amos Beadle recorded a personal best in the mile, finishing in 4:27.01.
The Hornets return to action on Feb. 14-15 for the Bulldog Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
