Hornets Picked Sixth in SWAC Preseason Soccer Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Alabama State University soccer program has been picked to finish sixth in the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Preseason Poll. The Hornets picked up 76 total points along with one first-place vote as voted by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Defending SWAC Champion Southern was picked to finish first with 108 total points, while picking up seven first-place votes. Texas Southern picked up 102 points and four first-place votes to finish second with Grambling State (101 pts), Jackson State (90 pts, 2 first-place votes) and Alabama A&M (76 pts, 1 first-place vote) rounding out the top five.

Prairie View (53 pts) was picked to finish sixth behind the Hornets, followed by Alcorn State (43 pts), Mississippi Valley State (39 pts, 1 first-place vote) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (30 pts.).

First-year head coach Alicia Wilson will lead Bama State into the 2025 season on Thursday, August 14, when they host the University of Mobile at 11 a.m.
